Astral Safari

Soar through swirling clouds as the wind rushes past your face.

Welcome to the first installment of our Meditation Journeys in the Speculative Encounters series!

Take off on an Astral Safari, a guided meditation that transports you to imaginary worlds.

Explore the vast reaches of your mind, meet fantastic creatures, and witness breathtaking landscapes.

This meditation boosts creativity, reduces stress, or helps escape the everyday grind.

Before you start the Astral Safari, find a comfortable spot where you won’t be disturbed. A cozy corner of your bedroom, a peaceful spot in your backyard, or a secluded area in a local park.

Once you’ve found your spot, sit or lie down in a relaxed position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Feel the tension leave your body with each exhale. Picture a warm light surrounding you to create a protective bubble.

A shimmering doorway appears in front of you. This is your gateway to the astral realm. Step through and feel a tingle all over. You’re in a place where anything is possible.

Look around. You’re on a misty mountaintop. The air is crisp. You hear the beating of powerful wings. A majestic dragon with scales that shimmer like opals lands beside you. It lowers its head in invitation for you to climb onto its back.

Settle between the dragon’s shoulder blades and feel a surge of excitement. The dragon spreads its wings and leaps into the air. You soar through swirling clouds as the wind rushes past your face. Far below, you see patchwork fields and winding rivers.

The dragon banks left. You emerge from the clouds into a brilliant blue sky. Islands float in the air around you, each a different shape and size. Some are lush and green, others rocky and barren. On one, you watch a group of winged horses gallop through a meadow.

Your dragon friend glides towards a large island. As you get closer, you see that it’s covered in crystal formations of every color. The dragon lands gently, and you slide off its back to look.

You walk among towering crystals that sparkle in the sunlight. Each seems to hum with energy. Place your hand on a large amethyst crystal. A wave of calm washes over you.

At the center of the island, you discover the entrance to a cave. Curious, you step inside. The walls are lined with glowing crystals that light your way. As you go deeper, you hear running water.

You emerge into a vast cavern. A luminous river flows through it. Its waters glow with an otherworldly blue light. By the riverbank, you see a group of mermaids. They shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow. Their laughter echoes off the cavern walls.

A mermaid notices you and waves you over. She invites you to join them in the water. You step into the river to find that you can breathe underwater just fine. Your legs transform into a iridescent tail.

The mermaids lead you downstream. Soon you come upon an underwater palace. Its spires and domes are made of mother-of-pearl and coral. Schools of colorful fish dart in and out of the windows.

Inside the palace, you’re greeted by the Mer-King and Mer-Queen. They welcome you to their realm and invite you to a feast in the grand hall. The tables are laden with fruits and delicacies you’ve never seen before. As you eat, you feel energized and refreshed.

After the feast, the Mer-Queen gives you a gift. A small pearl glows with an inner light. She tells you that whenever you wish to return to this realm to just hold the pearl and think of this place.

Say goodbye to your new mermaid friends, then swim back to the surface. As you emerge from the water, your tail transforms back into legs. You are on a beach of purple sand under a star-filled sky.

Something massive moves through the night sky. As it gets closer, you realize it’s a Star Whale, an enormous creature that swims through space as easily as a whale swims through the ocean.

The Star Whale descends and hovers just above the beach. It sends you a telepathic invitation to climb aboard. You step onto its back, and it rises into the sky.

As you ascend, the planet below grows smaller until it’s just a glowing orb among countless stars. The Star Whale takes you on a tour of the cosmos. You pass by nebulae that look like colorful clouds, see the birth of new stars, and witness the swirling dance of galaxies.

Your celestial journey brings you to an incredible sight. A massive tree grows in space. Its roots stretch out into the void and draw energy from distant stars. Its branches reach towards infinity, each bearing a different type of celestial fruit.

The Star Whale brings you close to a branch. You pluck a fruit that looks like a miniature sun.

As you eat it, you’re filled with warmth and light. You feel a part of everything in the universe.

It’s time to return to your physical body. The Star Whale senses this and descends back to the planet.

You find yourself back on the misty mountaintop where your journey began. Your dragon friend is waiting for you. You climb onto its back for one last flight.

As you soar through the clouds, you reflect on the incredible things you’ve experienced. You feel refreshed, inspired, and at peace.
